World Mental Health Day 2020
The World Health Organisation recognises Mental Health Day on October 10th with the overall goal of raising awareness of mental health problems around the world and mobilising efforts to improve mental health.
For all those focused on mental health issues, The Day offers an opportunity to speak about their efforts and what more needs to be done to make mental health services a priority for people around the world.
History
The history of the day began in 1992, when the first ever World Mental Health Day was celebrated on October 10 by the World Federation for Mental Health initiative.
The day had no clear theme for two years, other than encouraging education and understanding of mental health. But the day was celebrated in 1994 with the slogan ‘Improving the Quality of Worldwide Mental Health Services.’
THEME 2020
‘Mental Health for All: Greater Investment-Greater Access’ is the theme for World Mental Health Day 2020, as per World Federation for Mental Health.
